03.06.2011 – Nice to Lucerne
We said good bye to Monaco and the Lovely French Rivera. We visied a local French perfumery, and was shown all the fragrance that are used to make up all the perfumes us ladies love so much. We passed through the Italian Lake District into the Swiss Alps, again the scenery so different as soon as you cross the border. The high alpine mountain tops still covered in snow. It was quite an amazing experience to drive through that was once the longest tunnel in the world (18km’s long) It took 14 mins to get through, but Norway has the longest tunnel now (23.5kms). We arrived in Lucerne to stay in a lovely lakeside Lucerne Hotel.
We enjoyed a lovely cruise and scenic shoreline of Lake Lucerne that can only be fully appreciated from the water. We took in the awesome scenery that included green pastures and dense forest, as well as enjoying many yachts and sailboats on the water. It was rather cool and cloudy, but it did not dampen the spirit of the group.
We enjoyed a typical swiss dinner, that included the famous cheese fondue, whilst we were entertained by lively folklore, which included yodelling, alphine horne blowing, flag throwing.
We all returned to the hotel by 10pm, ready for tomorrow, visiting Mt. Pilatus and a countryside tour.
